"Cobra Golf reduces cost using Bunkspeed"
Cobra Golf implements Bunkspeed’s UDrive and HyperShot for design visualization and presentation, and minimizes the need for prototypes on first project. Tens of thousands of dollars were saved, and a more mature design delivered.
Bunkspeed announced today that Cobra Golf, a division of Acushnet Company and one of the world’s leading manufacturers of high performance golf clubs, was able to save tens of thousands of dollars associated in the development of its latest putter line, as well as in the development of one of its iron products. The savings are attributed to Cobra Golf’s deployment of Bunkspeed’s UDrive and HyperShot as an integral part of the company’s product development process.

Cobra Golf chose Bunkspeed because it was looking for ways improve its current product development process and gain greater confidence in its digital design data. Bunkspeed’s ability to turn any 3D content into photographic realism allowed Cobra Golf to visualize many concepts in real time, in a variety of environments and simulated natural and studio light conditions.
“Cobra Golf realized a return on investment before we even paid for the software”, said Tom Morris, principal design engineer at Cobra Golf. “Using Bunkspeed software to present our designs with photographic realism, we were able to reduce the number of physical prototypes. Not only did Cobra Golf avoid spending thousands of dollars on these prototypes, Cobra Golf’s engineers could also allow the design to mature up to just a few days before presentation.”

Cobra Golf is one of Bunkspeed’s first customers outside of the automotive design market. The penetration of the product design and consumer goods market is a major focal point for Bunkspeed in 2007.
“We are very excited about Cobra Golf’s success,” said Philip Lunn, founder and CEO of Bunkspeed. “This highlights the high value that Bunkspeed can bring to any product development environment, no matter what the product is. Our open architecture, along with the instant productivity of the software upon deployment, helps manufacturers optimize their process by leveraging their existing investments in both software and hardware. The end result is highly gratifying: better products at reduced cost. Who doesn’t want this?”
Bunkspeed will demonstrate HyperShot, the world’s first interactive photograph, the next generation of UDrive, as well as other advancements in visualization at Siggraph 2007 in San Diego, CA, from August 7th through 9th.
