"Bunkspeed Photo-Quality 3D Images and DuPont Performance Coatings’ Color Science Simplify Color Choices for Big-Ticket Truck, Jet and Yacht Buyers"
WILMINGTON, Del., March 26, 2008 – Buyers of over-the road trucks, mega-yachts and corporate jets can now see exactly what their prospective purchases will look like in almost any color and under almost any light condition with new digital software that produces three-dimensional effects that are virtually indistinguishable from photographs.
Bunkspeed’s patent pending Hypershot™ software is based on a “photon mapping” technique. This technique is used to create computer generated effects used in a variety of digital media. By combining Bunkspeed’s unique object rendering technology with unique color matching technology from DuPont Performance Coatings, buyers can see accurate representations of what the “real thing” will look like.
“Our customers are selling high end sophisticated products like mega-yachts, customized business jets and over-the-road trucks, so they can’t afford bad surprises,” said Daniel Benton, North American color marketing manager for DPC. “Their customers want to see the color on the product before they make the purchase. This technology allows for that visualization quickly, easily, and above all, accurately.”

Bunkspeed’s proven digital technology offers huge advantages over traditional materials such as printed brochures and paint chips. Buyers enjoy unprecedented levels of confidence in their color selections early in the product design process.
“Color helps our customers sell their products,” Benton said. “HyperShot™, combined with DuPont color science, provides customers with a significant competitive advantage -- from design, engineering, through marketing and sales.”
“Our work with DuPont is an excellent example of technologies and products that complement each other perfectly,” said Bunkspeed CEO Philip Lunn. “This technology partnership combines the realistic images made possible by Bunkspeed software with the precise color enabled by DuPont color science. The result is a rendering software solution that customers have needed for many years.”
The Bunkspeed Automotive and Transportation Division, launched earlier this month, was created to strengthen the company’s customer support presence in the United States, Europe and Asia. The new unit is based in Detroit, Mich. Bunkspeed is also active in product design beyond the automotive industry, working with customers such as Apple, Microsoft, Dell Kohler and others.
